Podcast of the Week: Citations Needed

There are a million political podcasts out there, and you really don’t need to listen to most of them. We all have too much noise to contend with as it is. Citations Needed, hosted by media analysts Nima Shirazi and Adam Johnson, is one show that can actually cut through the racket and help make sense of things (full disclosure: friend of our show Josh Kross is their production consultant).

Recent episodes have come at current events from a variety of illuminating angles, from quantitative analysis of negative portrayals of people of color to “Trumpwashing”–how the media uses our well-earned hatred of Trump to rehabilitate the image of the pre-Trump Republican party and criminal actions of the US government in general.

More from their Patreon page:

“Citations Needed is a weekly podcast about the intersection of media, PR, and power…Adam and Nima are political commentators and media analysts whose work seeks to identify, demystify, deconstruct and call bullshit on the media’s ubiquitous reliance on and regurgitation of false and destructive narratives, tropes and stereotypes.”
